About FocusTimer

FocusTimer is a small set of free focus and timer tools for students, remote workers, fitness folks and anyone who works better with a countdown running. You press start; your browser does the rest.

How it works

Every tool on this site is a client-side program: all timing math runs as JavaScript in your browser. There is no server that receives anything, no account to create, and nothing stored between visits except what you explicitly keep (study logs, habits and tasks live in your browser's own storage). Every timer runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded, no accounts, no tracking.

Accurate in background tabs

Browsers throttle timers in background tabs — but FocusTimer never counts ticks. Every countdown is anchored to an absolute timestamp, so the remaining time is always derived from the real clock, not from how many ticks happened to fire. Switch tabs, minimize the window, come back later: the timer is exactly where it should be, and the chime fired on time.

Offline & installable

The site is a PWA: install it to your home screen or desktop and it keeps working with no internet — the chimes are synthesized on the fly by your browser's audio engine, so there are no sound files to download either.
